What's Causing Your Tooth Pain?

Lois Murray

Your tooth pain can be caused by a great number of things. The thing your dentist can do is diagnose your pain and then help you find a remedy for it. If you have dental pain at all, call your dentist as soon as you can. They can bring you relief, and if you have a dental emergency, can get you the special care you need. Here are some causes for your tooth pain so you can have some information to share with your dentist.

Exposed nerves

If you have exposed nerves in your mouth, then your dentist should know. You'll likely have dentin or enamel issues if your toothache persists, and it's a sure sign that you should at least go to the dentist to see what's up. You may have nerve pain because your tooth is being pushed against by some other force. Your emergency dentist will assist you in getting the best care so you can find relief.

Chipped or broken tooth

A chipped or broken tooth is sure to cause you tooth pain. This is because the soft tissue in your tooth is going to be exposed to other parts of your mouth and the wind. The temperature changes in your tooth will also cause lots of tooth pain, so see your dentist if this is happening to you. The longer you leave your tooth pain or chipped tooth issue alone, the more it's going to worsen and you're going to have lots of problems. Your tooth pain is likely to get worse as well.

Mouth infection

A tooth infection or mouth infection is a leading cause of tooth pain and a reason to see the dentist. You may have an infected tooth or other problem in your mouth and not even realize it. Your dentist will be able to tell you where your infected tooth is or where your mouth infection is and will also give you some relief in the form of antibiotics and pain medication. If you have a mouth infection, it can spread to your sinuses as well, so have it fixed as soon as possible.

Your tooth pain can be caused by lots of reasons. If you have a toothache, your dentist should know about it right away. The emergency dentist will allow you to feel relief and can help you in several ways to get the pain treatment you need for your tooth pain so it doesn't return. About Me
Straight Teeth in Less Time

I had braces when I was a kid. Back then, you had to wear those metal wires and rubber bands for what seemed like forever. When I saw that my child’s teeth were going to be crooked like mine, I was dreading the years of braces and orthodontist appointments and limited diets that I saw stretching ahead of us. I was pleased to find out that braces today are very different from braces when I was a kid. They don’t need to be worn for nearly as long, and they aren’t as intrusive, either. My daughter got braces that can barely be seen, and she can remove them when she eats, so she doesn’t have to give up her favorite foods. I was so impressed that I started a blog to talk about modern day tooth straightening techniques. Braces have come a long way.
