Is Your Smile In The Spotlight But You Have A Cavity? Get A Natural Colored Filling

Lois Murray

If you are in an industry where appearance is a large part of your job, the news that you have a cavity may be upsetting. If you are worried that the filling is going to be an eye sore and that people are going to notice it when you smile, you want to get a white colored filling.

The white colored filling is more formally known and referred to by dentists as a resin composite filling, and it isn't going to be noticeable like a gold or aluminum filling. Here are a few things to consider when you are getting the cavity filled.

Sealant

If you haven't had your teeth sealed since you were a child, or ever, have the teeth that are still health sealed at your appointment. This protective sealant is going to prevent debris like bacteria, sugars and acids from eating away at the enamel of your teeth, and causing cavities. This is beneficial at all ages, and many dental insurance companies will cover the cost because it is preventative.

Fluoride Treatments

Have you been drinking a lot of bottled water instead of tap water, and you aren't getting enough fluoride? Are you using dental products that contain fluoride and are American Dental Association approved? If not, you'll want to ask for a fluoride treatment at your visit. This is going to help make your teeth stronger. You also want to get a rinse for home, so you are getting the fluoride you need every single day.

Whitening

If you are worried that your white filling is going to whiter than the rest of your natural teeth, have the teeth whitened so they match. This is going to help the filling blend in with the teeth, so the smile looks natural and you achieve the discrete look that you were hoping for.

As you get older it's more difficult for your body to absorb calcium, which will make your teeth strong. Make sure that you are caring for your teeth by brushing and flossing every day, and by rinsing and using the right products. If you want to spend less on dental costs, and you want to avoid time in the dental chair, preventative treatment is a must. Get your cavity filled with a white filling no one is going to notice, and then make sure it's the last cavity you will have to deal with for a long time. About Me
Straight Teeth in Less Time

I had braces when I was a kid. Back then, you had to wear those metal wires and rubber bands for what seemed like forever. When I saw that my child’s teeth were going to be crooked like mine, I was dreading the years of braces and orthodontist appointments and limited diets that I saw stretching ahead of us. I was pleased to find out that braces today are very different from braces when I was a kid. They don’t need to be worn for nearly as long, and they aren’t as intrusive, either. My daughter got braces that can barely be seen, and she can remove them when she eats, so she doesn’t have to give up her favorite foods. I was so impressed that I started a blog to talk about modern day tooth straightening techniques. Braces have come a long way.
